Whānau Iwi Pool Day

In recent years, we have proudly held our annual Whānau Iwi Pool Day, bringing together our five iwi, Ngāti Tama, Ngāti Mutunga, Ngāti Maru, Te Atiawa, and Taranaki, for a fun-filled day dedicated to our whānau. This year was no different, with the kaupapa centred on coming together, making memories, and enjoying the simple moments that strengthen our connections.

The pool was buzzing with energy from start to finish. Manu competitions off the diving boards brought plenty of laughs and friendly rivalry, while tamariki lit up the pool with their excitement, confidence, and non-stop splashing. The sounds of cheering, laughter, and encouragement echoed throughout the day, creating an atmosphere full of joy, aroha, and whanaungatanga.

Adding to the festivities were all the classic treats that make a whānau day extra special. Ice creams and ice chockys were a huge hit, helping everyone cool down between swims, while the sausage sizzle kept whānau well fed and fuelled for the fun. Cool giveaways were shared out, putting smiles on faces, and the lolly scramble was a highlight for tamariki, who eagerly gathered to collect their sweet treats amid plenty of excitement and laughter.

Overall, the Whānau Iwi Pool Day was a wonderful celebration of togetherness, a day where whānau could relax, reconnect, and simply enjoy being with one another. Moments like these remind us of the strength of our relationships and the importance of creating spaces where our people can come together in fun, joy, and unity.
