Rā Mutunga was again a highly successful day, marked by a strong turnout and positive reception from whānau. We began the day with the blessing of our five newly built houses, setting a meaningful and uplifting tone before transitioning into the AGM proceedings.
Preparation for the AGM ran smoothly, with the venue setup at the Urenui Community Centre operating efficiently. A total of 70 whānau attended across the day, including staff from Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Mutunga. The AGM commenced with the Urenui Pā Trustee hui, before moving into the Rūnanga AGM. Throughout both, presentations from all teams clearly demonstrated the breadth of mahi delivered over the past year and highlighted the collective effort and impact across the organisation.
A rolling service of refreshments and kai was available throughout the day, with both breakfast and lunch well prepared and warmly received by those in attendance. Our kai was provided by the Josh and Deeanna Te Awa Ritai, featuring a generous buffet that included Tīti and kamokamo.
The reception and foyer area was thoughtfully arranged to welcome whānau, featuring tables for registration, taonga and merchandise displays, a Taiao table, and selected exhibition pieces that generated plenty of kōrero and engagement, including Ka Uruora.
Aspiring Leaders forum was a key highlight, with Maioha Watson, an Aspiring Leaders 2025 nominee, sharing a reflective video on his amazing experiences and learnings from the Forum, offering valuable insight and inspiration for whānau.
Overall, the day provided a rich opportunity for meaningful discussions, thoughtful questions, and strengthened connections across our whānau, reinforcing both our shared achievements and our collective direction moving forward.
