Te Rā o Te Rangihiroa

Te Rā o Te Rangihīroa was successfully held at the Urenui Community Centre and provided a meaningful opportunity for whānau to come together to learn, reflect, and connect. The day was filled with rich kōrero exploring the life, work, and legacy of Te Rangihīroa, alongside opportunities to meet new whānau, reconnect with familiar faces, and spend quality time together.

The programme began at dawn with karakia at the Te Rangihīroa monument. Mitchell led attendees through kōrero on the life, achievements, and enduring influence of Te Rangihīroa, setting a strong and reflective tone for the day. Following this, whānau returned to the Urenui Community Centre to share breakfast before moving into a series of engaging and thought-provoking presentations.

We extend our sincere thanks to Jonathan Koea, Natalie Robertson, and Graeme Atkins for generously sharing their knowledge, expertise, and creative practice. Their contributions helped bring Te Rangihīroa’s research and legacy to life and added real depth and meaning to the kaupapa. A warm mihi is also extended to Dee and Josh, who ensured everyone was well cared for and well fed throughout the day.

We thank all those who attended and supported Te Rā o Te Rangihīroa. Your presence, engagement, and whakaaro made the day both special and memorable. We look forward to coming together again for future kaupapa.

“Ka mua, ka muri.”
We walk backwards into the future with our eyes fixed on the past.
