Kaumātua Christmas

Last Friday, we were privileged to come together for our annual Kaumātua Christmas Lunch to acknowledge, honour, and celebrate our kaumātua. The day was filled with connection and whanaungatanga, with plenty of laughter, shared kai, reminiscing, and quality time spent together.

This annual gathering provides an important opportunity to show our appreciation for the role our kaumātua play within our iwi and whānau. Their presence, wisdom, and ongoing support continue to guide and inspire us, and it was special to be able to celebrate together as we moved into the festive season.

We extend our sincere thanks to Sunworld for hosting the lunch, and to everyone who helped organise and support the event, contributing to a relaxed and enjoyable day for all.

We thank our kaumātua for their continued contribution and wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We look forward to coming together again at future events.

“He taonga te kaumātua.”
Our elders are a treasured gift.
