Nau mai, Haere mai

We are looking forward to seeing you this weekend for the bi-annual Taranaki Tu Mai event hosted by Ngāti Tama in Waitara!

Thank you for your patience regarding us getting the information out to you all. The draw is yet to be confirmed and there are several participants registered for multiple sports, some teams could be impacted depending on the final draw. We will get the draw out as soon as we receive it. Please familiarize yourselves with the programme, specifically times for your team check-in and kick-off. Please ensure your teams are there at least 30 minutes before starting in case there are any changes.

The Programme details, Site Maps and Bus Timetables are all listed below.

Important things to note for the weekend:

1. We will set the gazebo up on Friday morning between 9am – 11am. Larnee and I will predominantly be based from here, come see us if any matters arise throughout the weekend.
a. The gazebo will be the collection point for coordinators, to pick up the sports uniform, please encourage your players to wear black bottoms suitable for your sport.
b. We will have a first aid kit and sunscreen available.
c. There are water stations available, we encourage everyone to bring their own bottles, we will not be supplying any single plastic bottled water.
2. Carpooling is the best whanau! Princess Street will be closed from Bayly Street to Clifton Drive. Parking will be on Clifton Drive and the corresponding streets. There is a drop-off area for Kaumatua.
3. St Johns will be at the event should any injuries/accidents occur over the weekend.
a. In the event of an emergency, the alarm will be sounded, please follow all instructions if this occurs.
4. It is the responsibility of each coordinator to pick up your sports tops and collect them at the end of your games and return them to Larnee and/or I. We have numbered them all, and will know which ones haven’t been handed back, however we don’t want to have to chase people to get them back, we want to be able to use these tops for other events over the next few years. Please ensure you hand these back.
5. Lunch will be available at the gazebo from 12 – 1.30, this will be a BBQ, and there will be other kai to have throughout the day. This is for all the sport codes playing at Whai Tapuwae no Rongo.
6. All other sports codes that are playing offsite will have lunches delivered to your venue.
7. Hangi for Sunday will arrive at 1pm, this will be available from the Ngāti Mutunga gazebo, buffet style.
We have purchased plates, forks, and serviettes for those that will be present.
8. Te Uru o te Rangi will be performing at 9am for anyone that would like to watch and support.
9. Pick up times for the Ngāti Mutunga Taranaki Tu Mai T-shirt. These t-shirts are for those whānau members that have registered through the Ngāti Mutunga registration portal.

TIMES:

Friday 12pm – 1.30pm
Saturday 9.30am – 10.30am

You can only pick up your own t-shirt, under your own name, you cannot collect on behalf of others.

Additional Info:

1. Kai stalls will be available at the event. Please bring cash in the first instance, limited EFTPOS stalls.
2. Have a flick through your event information and make note of any rules that need to be adhered to. For example, Tamariki Tu Mai has a ratio system for tamariki to caregiver supervision.
3. If you are attending the pōwhiri on Friday, cars need to be parked outside the marae grounds. There is a parking area prior to the marae, you will be directed by traffic management.
4. We will be having karakia on Saturday 25th at 7am for Te Rangihīroa, we welcome any whānau that would like to participate.
We are learning with you and if there are any burning questions you have, please send them to larnee@ngatimutunga.iwi.nz and george@ngatimutunga.iwi.nz or ring the office, and we will work through these together.
Looking forward to an awesome weekend! Can’t wait to see you all there.
