The Whānau engagement team attended the WhyOra Hui whānau, held on Monday, 19 August 2025 at the New Plymouth Raceway.
It was inspiring to see so many of our rangatahi (Years 11–13) and their whānau gathered together alongside iwi representatives, community representatives, and supporters. The evening was filled with energy, kōrero, and connection – a true reflection of the strength and unity across Taranaki.
We acknowledge the iwi representatives who generously shared their kaupapa, projects, and aspirations. Having iwi presence gives our young people and their whānau valuable insight into the opportunities available within the iwi space and offered pathways of inspiration for the next generation of Māori leaders.
We also wish to thank the dedicated WhyOra team, who worked tirelessly to bring this event to life every year. Their commitment ensured the evening ran smoothly and created a warm, welcoming environment for all who attended.
Most importantly, we celebrate our rangatahi and their whānau. Their enthusiasm and engagement remind us why gatherings such as this are so important – to strengthen identity, build connections, and create opportunities for future success.
The Hui Whānau 2025 has reinforced our vision of collective growth and the importance of continuing to nurture strong relationships between iwi, whānau, and rangatahi. We look forward to building on this momentum in the year ahead.
