Mitchell Ritai, Johnathan Koea and Allie Hemara-Wahaui were instrumental in bringing this kaupapa together and spoke on Kuia Mata’s past journey as a nurse and how the future looks bright for our rangatahi towards a pathway in the hauora sector through nursing.

My study will benefit the people of Ngāti Mutunga, as I intend to stay in Taranaki to nurse. My goal is to help to address the underlying factors that affect Māori hauroa and inequalities in New Zealand. Ngāti Mutunga mission is to facilitate growth and development of our people and culture, by becoming a nurse my mission is to be able help our people make educated decisions on their health and enable them to access health care and ensure their needs are met.
