Inanga Habitat Survey

With the support and guidance of Wild for Taranaki recently reached out to us to ask if there was anything they could do for us as they had a little extra capacity through their Wai connection project.  We agreed that a good use of this time would be a salt-wedge survey of our awa to identify how far up the salt wedge reaches on a large high tide and from there work out where the sweet spots are for īnanga spawning from an ecology point of view.  It is suggested that īnanga spawn just beyond the salt wedge.  We have just completed this survey on the Onaero and will continue with Mimitangiatua and Urenui in the coming weeks.
