Fungal Foray

In May this year the Fungal Foray was based at the Urenui Community Centre where they were welcomed by Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Mutunga.  Enthusiastic foragers from all over the country met at Urenui to spend a week foraging around many sites throughout Taranaki, including Taramoukou & Pouiatoa in our rohe.  I was lucky enough to spend a day out foraging with them, learning about our different fungi, how to best spot them and identify them.  It is always uplifting to spend time with experts of their fields and get swept up in their passion and excitement.  The findings from this event are currently being collated and we look forward to hearing more about what they found in our rohe and across Taranaki.
