The Urenui Papakāinga Housing Project is progressing really well. The three homes at Ngapapa Street and the two homes at Whakapaki Street are nearing completion and we are looking forward to the ceremonial opening of the homes and welcoming in whānau.
Progress continues across the Ngapapa Street site as we move closer to the final stages of completion. External works are well underway, with preparations in place for the last of the finishing touches.
Concrete patios, footpaths, driveways and kerbs have successfully been poured and settled earlier this month. Landscaping has begun its course, and fencing installation is ongoing across the homes.
The programme is on track with some slight delays. These next few weeks should see the delivery of the front doors, the sandblasting works following the concrete pours, and cultural design elements that will be installed once the gates and front doors are in place.
The two homes at Whakapaki Street are progress well. The septic tanks and dispersal fields are nearing completion, the kitchens are being installed, and the remaining internal works remain on track.
The electricians and plumbers have begun their respective parts of the project, and the landscape contouring is on track. Additional on-site progress includes the completion of fixings inspections, fascia installation, internal and external painting and roofing works. We are pleased to also see the soffits being installed under the eaves of the roof and the windows have been fitted.
