Pest Control
Pest control remains an important part of our annual mahi. We have local volunteers helping out by clearing traps at Onaero beach, Urenui beach, Wairoa, and Wai iti beach and staff taking care of Puketapu/Pukemiro, Pohokura, Te Urenui and Okoki Pā sites. There are still plenty of pests out there but if we all do our bit, we can expect good positive outcomes.
Wāhi Tapu & Pest/Weed Control KNE sites
- Continue regular pest control at established sites and create a schedule for this mahi
- Maintain relationships around this mahi i.e. Whanau, volunteers, TRC & DOC
- Employ TKA to service and repair traps at Okoki pā
- Can we coordinate whanau/kura working bees for weeding at our wahi tapu?
- Investigate methods to control/eliminate mangroves from Urenui Estuary
- Maramataka and tohu taiao recording.
- Prioritise wāhi tapu sites for data collection and assignment within GIS
